feedback: I am a Christian. My grand mother told me that I am a nangilnadu pillai. My family became Christian in a quarrel between ourselves while pulling to festival car in a village near Suchindram
in K.K District. My family became christian after the death of Vethanayagam Pillai. Eventhouth I am christian I am interested in knowing the past. About 50 to 60 families became christian after the quarrel.

First this is great website for Saiva Pillais. I'm hyrib by caste, Saiva Pillai (maternal) and Kshathiryar (paternal) well my surname is match by numerology. Anyway, there are a lot comments about Pillai's here wearing poonul and not the warrior caste. Well let me get the say of Tamil; Kalaan, Marayen, Aagamudiyar, slowly Vellavar come. Meaning is simple, when warrior clans, king urbanization took place, they made Kalaan /marayen (thief and smuggler)to be meaningful trader (Aagamudiyar) than slow groom them into vellavar, very fine eusthic people good in agriculture and domestic trade counsel. Late the Pillai was divide into Saiva Pillai like Appar and Chola Pillai, king's advisor. The Saiva Pillais are regarded to be much devote to Saiva God and held as high as the aryan brahim and wear poonul. Pillai contribution was great like Chimbaram Pillai and etc. The Saiva Pillai have been given great respect and responsible in naturing the Tamil culture.
